Joint-Life Advanced

Product Information

Cartilage is the type of tough connective tissue with a flexible matrix made of collagen, protein and sugars which covers the ends of your bones at a joint. It also gives shape and support to other parts of your body, such as your ears, nose and windpipe. Healthy cartilage helps you move by allowing your bones to glide over each other. It also protects bones by preventing them from rubbing against each other (1).

A disorder which depletes the cartilage and weakens the joint is called as Osteoarthritis (OA). It also known as degenerative arthritis, degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis, is a type of joint disease that results from breakdown of joint cartilage and underlying bone (2).

The most common symptoms are joint pain and stiffness. Other symptoms may include joint swelling, decreased range of motion and when the back is affected weakness or numbness of the arms and legs. The most commonly involved joints are those near the ends of the fingers, at the base of the thumb, neck, lower back, knees and hips (3).

Taurine is a sulphur containing amino acid formed from methionine. Taurine stabilises cell membranes. Methionine contains sulphur, detoxifies cells and is involved in pain relief (6).

Hyaluronic acid helps in the growth and development of joint's cartilage and bone by promoting the growth of new cells and tissues. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in reducing joint inflammation and pain caused by injury or tissue degeneration (7).

Collagen hydrolysate supplements are rich in a number of amino acids (a group of chemical compounds) that play an important role in the creation of collagen. Type II collagen is one of the main proteins in cartilage. It's been suggested that taking collagen hydrolysate can improve the symptoms of osteoarthritis by stimulating your body's production of joint collagen (8).

Collagen is an essential protein that provides structure to numerous body tissues. As a person ages, their body produces less collagen. This decline in collagen levels can adversely affect the skin, joints, and connective tissues (9).
